Affenpinscher

The Affenpinscher is a small dog that's great for people with no previous dog owning experience. It can be very playful and entertaining, but also suspicious towards others, stubborn and strong willed. The last trait can make the dog very hard to train and you will need to show him who's boss early on to avoid future problems.

They tend to get on well with other family pets, but aren't recommended for families with younger children. The dog makes a great exercise companion when taking and walk or going for a run. Overall this is a fun-loving and protective breed that will be a great pet.

They average weight of the Affenpinscher is 7-12 pounds and height 8-12 inches. The coat can be tan, black, grey, silver and red.If groomed properly they coat does not shed very much, great for those with allergies. Brush the coat once or twice per week to minimise shedding and strip the coat every few months to remove dead hair. The Affenpinscher tends to live for 12-14 years and common health problems include heart murmurs and kidney problems.

The dog originates from Germany and its name means monkey terrier because of its money-like expression. The breed dates back to the seventeenth century.
