Wire-haired Pointing Griffon

The very first Wire-haired Pointing Griffon appeared around 1870. The breed was a result of scientific dog breeding, which combined different dog breeds according to specific aesthetic, practical or genetic criteria and was considered a great success. It's developer Edward Korthals, wanted to create a dog that could hunt in all weathers and over all terrains.

The Wire-haired Pointing Griffon is a keen and playful character who fits in everywhere, provided you show him that he is loved. In return, you will have a faithful, gentle, good-humoured and well-behaved pet. Despite all this, they can be quite stubborn and candid.

The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon sheds a fair amount of hair some they need to be groomed a few times a week. Their wiry coat if self-cleansing you will only need to give them a couple of baths a year.

The The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon has a hardy constitution and is very resilient with no serious diseases or conditions. He can tolerate hot and cold temperatures and his teeth are strong and healthy. They usually age gracefully but can sometimes suffer rheumatism and stiffness in joints.
